In 2006, Anita Moorjani was lying in a hospital bed, losing her battle with cancer. Her organs were shutting down and her lungs were filling with fluid as she went into a deep coma. Doctors did not believe she would live through the night. But Anita did not die. Instead, she had a profound near-death experience (NDE) where her awareness crossed over to the “other side.” In that state, she was able to understand everything about her life from a cosmic viewpoint, so-to-speak, including WHY she got cancer in the first place. After understanding that and more, she came back and detailed her experience in the best-selling book, Dying to Be Me.

In Dying to Be Me, Anita relates how everything became clear while her consciousness was on the other side. For instance, she realized that the development of her cancer was caused more by her own beliefs and fears than any physical factor. She also knew that if she decided to come back and live again, her cancer would go away by itself without treatment. Indeed, it did go away. Within a few short weeks, Anita’s many tumors were gone and she has remained cancer-free with no treatment ever since!

Anita has now come out with her second book, What if This is Heaven? In this book, like the first one, she talks about the role our thoughts and emotions play in the development of disease. One thing I particularly like about what she learned is that we needn’t worry overly much about each and every thought we have. (For instance, making sure our thoughts are all positive and there are no negative ones.) On page 166 of her latest book, Anita writes, “. . . while positive thinking and affirmations are valuable in many ways, there are times when they’re not helpful in the least! They can act like Band-Aids that simply cover a wound so we can’t see it.” Her advice is to not fight and especially to not fear our thoughts, but to notice and accept them as a part of us.

To Anita, the most important factor in the mind/body connection is how you feel about yourself. Personally, I believe there are many aspects of the mind/body connection that can be discussed, but this particular point of hers is truly worth taking in. In her case, she shares that she did not feel good about herself and had lots of fears throughout her life. For many, many years, she put judgments and restrictions on her own behavior to please others and feel worthy. In her near-death experience, she was able to see that the cancer was just her own unexpressed power and energy turned in against herself, since she wasn’t expressing it outward.

If you are interested in more details, I highly recommend both books. I have found her discussion of the mind/body connection fascinating and convincing. The main message she has for others is simply to “Love yourself unconditionally and to be yourself fearlessly.” An excellent message, indeed!

Kelly A. Turner, Ph.D., was working as a counselor at a cancer research hospital in San Francisco when she came across a cancer patient who had achieved a recovery without the use of conventional western medicine. Surprised, she looked into other cases and realized there were many similar occurrences. Then she became quite frustrated that no one was seriously studying these cases. Worse, she found that some oncologists don’t even want their patients to know about these cases for fear it would give them false hope. So, Dr. Turner courageously studied these types of recoveries herself to find out what these patients did and then put what she learned into her New York Times Bestselling book, Radical Remission: Surviving Cancer Against All Odds.

I must say that I wasn’t sure what I would think of this book when I first started reading it. But I was very pleased to find that a main theme of the book is that radical remission is NOT the same as “spontaneous remission.” This is because spontaneous remission implies that no treatment at all was used and the patient did not do anything special to make their cancer go away. it is a concept that many doctors will jump to right away when they hear of a patient recovering without the use of their prescribed treatments. But, from what Dr. Turner writes, it appears that none of the cancer patients she investigated did nothing. In other words, most implemented diet changes, eliminating or greatly reducing their intake of sugar and other refined foods. Many also reduced or eliminated red meat and dairy products. Many employed supplements, herbs, meditation or energy work. Most also implemented lifestyle changes and worked on their thinking patterns to reduce stress and process emotions better. In fact, she came up with 9 main characteristics common to those cancer patients who were able to bring themselves into remission and long-term cure without the use of mainstream medicine. Many of the cases were from people who conventional treatment failed at first, and many were terminal. So, they are impressive recoveries.

Radical Remission is excellent and I highly recommend it! No two cases did exactly the same thing, so it’s not a book about which alternative treatments to use. But, as we all know, it is critically important for anyone dealing with a serious illness to have a good dose of hope and encouragement. Dr. Turner’s book does just that. A strength of the book is that the many case stories are presented beautifully and in intimate detail. Se made sure to describe all aspects of the changes each person made, whether in their diet, the supplements they chose to take, or in their relationships with others and outlook on life.

Honestly, the book had me enthralled. Most importantly, I believe it is the best book I’ve come across for showing that there is more to recovering from cancer than just using this or that alternative treatment. (Though that is super important, too.) But, you will have to read Radical Remission to find out for yourself just what that more is that these people did!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY! At Christmas time, Peace on Earth is an important theme. Of course, peace is not always just political . . . it can occur in many different ways, such as when dealing with a cancer diagnosis and not wanting the cancer to recur after remission. In this article, I want to talk about how the use of non-toxic alternative cancer treatments can bring about “peace of mind” and, specifically, what a good choice the Protocel formula can be for this.

In late 2013, 74-year-old Ellen (not her real name) was having issues with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and elevated liver enzymes. It was unclear as to why her liver enzymes were up, so her doctor referred her to a specialist. An endoscopy procedure was performed and the specialist had a question about something that showed up, so a CT scan was recommended. Ellen went to John’s Hopkins for the scan and to consult with a surgeon. It was now early 2014, and the scan showed what looked like cancer in the pancreas.

Ellen was scheduled for surgery, during which her surgeon found that it was, indeed, pancreatic cancer that she had. He performed a Whipple procedure, which is where part of the pancreas is removed, and he also saw that the cancer had metastasized to the duodenum, where the stomach joins with the intestines. So, the surgeon removed Ellen’s duodenum as well and took out 19 lymph nodes which, fortunately, were all clear.

In hindsight, Ellen was very lucky that her cancer was caught as early as it was, because the surgery alone put her into remission. (Meaning there were no longer any signs of cancer according to diagnostic tests.) But, even so, her surgeon was not overly optimistic. In fact, he suggested to Ellen that she “get her affairs in order.” When Ellen asked about her chances for survival, he led her to believe that with chemo, she might live about 5 more years. It was clear that in his opinion, there were free-floating cancer cells still in her body, so the cancer would grow back. He did not believe chemo would be able to cure her.

In fact, Ellen found out that the official statistics after a Whipple procedure when the cancer is caught this early indicate only a 20% chance for recovery in 5 years. The surgeon told Ellen to “hope for the best, but plan for the worst.” This statement was devastating to Ellen. Luckily, her oncologist was somewhat more hopeful than her surgeon was.

Ellen agreed to undergo a heavy chemo protocol post-surgery, where she was given chemotherapy for 3 weeks out of every month over 6 months. Finally, when this was finished in March of 2015, she was able to relax. However, by September, a cancer marker blood test called the CA 19-9 was very high. Since this most likely indicated her cancer was back, Ellen chose to treat it again . . . but this time with Protocel Formula 50. The way Ellen found out about Protocel was by telling her gynecologist about her cancer. The GYN suggested she contact another patient who happened to be Julia, the pharmacist in the article dated October 25, 2017 on this blog. Julia told Ellen about her own cancer recovery from metastasized breast cancer and suggested she read OUTSMART YOUR CANCER.

Once Ellen started taking Protocel, there was an amazing psychological change in her. As she describes it, Before Protocel, my life was all about the cancer and dying. I got my affairs in order and constantly badgered my husband about how he should do this or that after I died. But once I started taking Protocel at 1/2 tsp. every 6 hours, I just stopped worrying. For the first time, I felt like I was in control, not the cancer! This made my husband much happier, too, because I became calm and stopped talking about my death all the time.

Ellen has taken Protocel for 2 years now and, at 78 years old, has no intention of stopping it. She gets a CT scan every 6 months and continues to be clear of cancer. She never told her oncologist what she was doing and to be fair, the CA 19-9 test may have been elevated because her liver enzymes were out of whack. Thus, Ellen cannot claim that Protocel cured her cancer, yet at the same time, it is very possible it has indeed kept the cancer from recurring. At any rate, the peace of mind that Protocel continues to give Ellen has been priceless!

COMMENT: Taking Protocel or any other good alternative non-toxic approach is a great idea when someone is in remission. Rather than simply waiting to see if the cancer is going to come back, the person can take charge and be proactive. This not only functions to help keep the cancer from growing back but, as with Ellen, it can relieve a person’s fears that are also often accompanied by a terrible sense of helplessness. This, in turn, can allow the person to enjoy life again. Protocel is a particularly good choice for this type of “proactive peace of mind” because it is so simple to take that it does not “define” a person as someone fighting cancer the way other approaches involving juicing, coffee enemas, lots of supplements, or intravenous treatments might. The Protocel user can easily focus on living his or her life as a normal person again!

As a senior pharmacist who had dispensed medications to countless people over more than 30 years, Julia was emotionally broadsided when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. After a biopsy, the official diagnosis was “Birads 5 Spiculated Tumor” with spider-like tentacles and increased blood supply to the tumor. A right breast lumpectomy was performed in May of that year.

Two weeks later, though, her doctor told her, “Woops, we didn’t get it all. You have dirty margins and there is some evidence of cancer in the lymph nodes.” So a second surgery was scheduled to remove the whole breast. (A mastectomy.) Before this surgery, however, an MRI scan was ordered and it came back showing spots on her spine. A biopsy of the spine confirmed that the spots were lesions of metastasized breast cancer. Now Julia was considered to be Stage IV and her doctor cancelled the mastectomy, saying, “There is nothing more I can do.” Since metastasized breast cancer generally cannot be cured by conventional medicine, Julia was now pronounced TERMINAL.

Julia says, That was probably the lowest point of my life. My son was going to get married that year and my other son would be graduating college. And someone was saying to me, “You’re done.”

She was also told that it was too late for chemotherapy. Instead, Julia’s doctor scheduled her for radiation treatments to slow the cancer and she was prescribed Tamoxifen to block the effects of her own estrogen. But he made it clear that this protocol was only given to prolong her life somewhat. In other words, it was a palliative, not a curative treatment plan.

Julia went through radiation treatments to her spine and also had her ovaries removed to put herself into menopause. The Tamoxifen wasn’t working, in fact it seemed to make things worse. So she was switched to another hormone-blocking drug called Femara (an aromatase inhibitor). The radiation shrank the cancerous lesions in her spine, but they were still there.

As a pharmacist, Julia was always researching, so she plunged into searching for alternative cancer treatments. At first, she tried to boost her immune system with juicing, meditation, prayer, healthy diet and the Budwig Flaxseed Oil and Cottage Cheese approach. But nothing was really getting rid of the cancer. Then, she somehow stumbled onto Protocel, bought Outsmart Your Cancer to read more details about it, and decided that with so many positive testimonials this option was a no-brainer. So she ordered Protocel Formula 23 and started taking it 5 times around the clock as indicated. This was in June of 2014 and she was still showing active lesions in her spine, especially at L3 where a big hole in the bone had been eaten away by the cancer. Julia also cut refined sugar and alcohol out of her diet. She stopped juicing and started blending instead, and she stopped the Budwig diet. Julia also used Paw Paw and a few other supplements such as probiotics. Overall, her approach was quite simple. In fact, she raves about how easy it was and how she travelled around the world with her Protocel in little dropper bottles!

Her next PET/CT scan was in October of 2014 and it still showed some scattered lesions in her spine, but this time they were all metabolically inactive. The conclusion was that there were “no signs of cancer in the spine or in any other areas.” And every scan since then has continued to show the largest lesion at L3 to be healed and inactive, and no visible signs of cancer anywhere in the body! Thus, Julia has remained clear for 3 years and is only now stopping the Protocel. (Though she will go back on it for short periods now and then to be cautious.)

It is interesting to note that Julia felt fine and never sick throughout her entire use of Protocel, and experienced only minimal signs of lysing with some mucous in her stools at the beginning. She continues to run a pharmacy, and is never shy about telling people her story. In fact, she often gets referrals from doctors who send their patients to her to hear about how she cured herself of terminal cancer.

Amazingly, Julia claims that the whole experience was the BEST thing that ever happened to her. She says, It was a real wake-up call. I now eat right and enjoy life so much. I became a different person as a result. I pay more attention to people and am more empathetic. I am not afraid of anything anymore. This has been very empowering and I have never regretted getting cancer!

A scenario might go like this. The oldest daughter is diagnosed with breast cancer that has spread into her lymph system with a suspicious looking spot in her and on her collarbone. Her oncologist wants her to undergo surgery, followed by radiation and chemotherapy right away. But, as a result of the homework she has done, she knows that there is virtually no chance that conventional treatment can cure her since her cancer has already metastasized. So she decides to undergo minimal surgery but decline the chemo and use a combination of alternative methods instead for a chance at a long-term cure. This woman’s husband is terrified that she’s making a mistake and wants her to do everything the doctor says. Her parents are also frightened, but their fear comes out as anger towards her. The doctors are the experts and they should know best, right? She’s always gone against the grain her whole life and now she is going to kill herself!

The woman with the breast cancer knows there is no guarantee that the alternative approach she chooses will cure her, but she’s pretty darn sure that the full conventional approach won’t. The parents, on the other hand, are suffering from what I call “The Disbelief Factor.” This is when a person believes that if something other than surgery, chemo and radiation really worked against cancer, then all the doctors and clinics would be using it! Of course, their concern is genuine. They love their daughter and are terrified of losing her. No one can blame them for this. The Disbelief Factor is powerful, especially when someone has put full trust in doctors their whole life. But it’s such a shame when this sort of rift occurs in a family because it can literally tear a family apart . . . sometimes for a long time.

Over the years, a number of people have asked me to try to convince a family member of theirs that some alternative approach they are looking into is better than going the conventional route. Unfortunately, I can’t do that. People have to convince themselves of which approach might be best, usually by reading books, searching for information on the Internet and talking to any experts they can find.

I do give one piece of advice, however, that can sometimes help if there is discord within a family about whether to use conventional or alternative medicine. I recommend that the cancer patient and their conflicted family member sit down with the oncologist and ask point blank whether the conventional treatment being recommended is considered “palliative” or “curative.” If the answer is palliative, then that means the oncologist knows the surgery, chemo, and/or radiation will NOT save the person’s life, but is merely recommended to prolong their life. In that case, the person’s family may understand better why he or she wants to try something different that might give them a chance for full recovery.

More than anything, if this type of discord happens in your family, try to remember that the person arguing with you loves you and is probably very scared and worried for your life. But it is still your body, and you still have to make your own decision about treatment. Consider everyone’s feelings, but do what you think is best for you!

Not every cancer situation lends itself to a biopsy. But when it does, and your doctor suggests one, you may have a decision to make. Is it in your best interest? Are there risks? For instance, can biopsies spread cancer? This is important to know since many cancer patients opt for biopsies whether they are using conventional or alternative cancer treatments.

What is a Biopsy?

A biopsy is the removal of a small amount of tissue from a tumor or other area for examination under a microscope. There are many different types of biopsy procedures, including needle biopsy, fine needle aspiration, core biopsy, endoscopic biopsy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and punch biopsy. The two main reasons your doctor might suggest a biopsy are: (1) To get a tissue sample of your cancer for better diagnosis in order to help pick the most effective drug therapy, or (2) To prove you have cancer before undertaking a risky treatment such as surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation.

Are There Risks?

This is the critical question and yes, there can be risks involved with any biopsy procedure. Unfortunately, one of the riskiest is the biopsy procedure for prostate cancer, which of course is one of the most common cancers. For prostate biopsies, an instrument goes up through the rectum and then needle sticks are punched through the colon wall into the prostate gland. Up to 30 needle sticks may be required and this can cause a potentially lethal blood infection due to the transmission of e-coli or other bacteria. Though rare, I personally spoke to a man who said he almost died from a routine needle biopsy into the prostate that caused just such an infection.

But even more worrisome, is the risk that any biopsy procedure could potentially spread the cancer. This is a somewhat controversial issue and most oncologists will probably say there is little risk of spreading, or “seeding” the cancer. However, one author by the name of Karl Loren, supposedly documented 73 cases of seeding from biopsies that caused metastases. Apparently, this risk is more well-known than it would seem, since more than half a million American cancer patients are reported to seek medical treatment outside the U.S. simply to avoid having to get a biopsy. Many of these Americans flee to the Hope4Cancer Institute in Mexico run by Dr. Antonio Jimenez.

I did not know what to think of this issue myself until I attended a cancer treatment conference years ago. During one talk, I was surprised to hear the lecturer, an oncologist, talk about how needle biopsies can spread cancer. To illustrate this, he projected a slide showing the scanned image of a woman’s breast. A cancer mass was apparent inside the breast and a thin line was apparent going directly from the mass to the surface of the breast. He explained that the thin line was a line of cancer cells that had leaked out as the biopsy needle was pulled back out of the breast. His opinion as a cancer doctor was that biopsies can DEFINITELY spread cancer.

I have also now personally spoken with about half a dozen men over the years who underwent radical prostatectomies (surgical removal of the entire prostate gland) for prostate cancer caught early, were pronounced cancer-free, then 4 to 6 years later were surprised to be diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in their lymph system and bones. At this point, they were pronounced incurable by conventional medicine. Was it that the prostatectomies did not get all the cancer? Or was it the needle biopsy required before the surgery that spread the cancer into the blood stream and lymph system? Could it be that for these men and others like them that their cancer was localized to the prostate gland and that they would have been cured by surgical removal of the gland had they not had that biopsy procedure done?

Another thing to keep in mind is that biopsies have varying degrees of accuracy in assessing cancer. In particular, for prostate cancer, there are many areas of the prostate gland that the needle punches cannot get to. As a result, according to Dr. Mercola, a whopping “one-third of the men with initial ‘negative’ results for prostate cancer actually DO have prostate cancer that was missed by the biopsy.”

The bottom line is that, if you are facing a recommended biopsy procedure, you should probably carefully consider the importance of what your doctor can learn from that for treating you versus the risks of possible infection and possible seeding of the cancer. Talk to your doctor about whether a biopsy is really needed and do more homework on the Internet. It may be a difficult decision, but at least it would be an informed decision!

CASE STORY

In June of 2014, Sandra experienced some unusual bleeding, so she made an appointment with her gynecologist. What looked like a simple polyp on her cervix was removed and sent to the pathology lab. Unfortunately, the diagnosis came back as “Small-Cell Cervical Neuroendocrine Cancer, Stage IIB.” This is a rare form of cervical cancer that is very aggressive and not HPV-related. And, in Sandra’s case, it was inoperable due to its location.

Sandra first was quickly referred to the “guru” doctor for this type of cancer at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. The specialist concluded that she was probably suffering from a secondary treatment-induced cancer caused by the radiation given to her for a previous cancer years earlier. Unfortunately, any type of surgery, including a hysterectomy, would only make matters worse because it would involve cutting across cancer cells and dispersing the cancer further throughout her body. Thus, all they could offer Sandra was chemotherapy and radiation. Sandra stayed positive, hoping she would beat her cancer again, like she did before. But she quickly found out that this time would be different. The chemotherapy treatments given to Sandra impaired her immune system so badly that her health declined quickly. She explains:

What a fiasco that was at M.D. Anderson! First, they started giving me radiation treatments. Then they added in chemotherapy. After 2 weeks of radiation and just 3 days of chemo, I got desperately ill and my friend had to take me to the emergency room in the middle of the night because I couldn’t breathe. They discovered I had sepsis and pneumonia. I had to be on a ventilator for 10 days and they gave me all kinds of drugs to keep me alive. I almost died. Afterward, I was so weak, I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t do anything. I was in the hospital for a whole month just to rehabilitate from this.

The radiation treatments also caused serious problems. Because it was directed to her pelvic region, the sensitive tissues of the vagina and colon were severely damaged. This caused scar tissue to form and a loss of elasticity accompanied by pain in those areas. According to Sandra, The radiation they administered caused so much damage to my colon that the doctors wanted to give me a colostomy!

Sandra refused the colostomy and somehow finished the recommended course of treatments. In January of 2015, she had a clear scan and the doctors claimed that her cancer was gone. However, 3 months later, a follow-up PET scan from MD Anderson showed that the cancer was back. There were multiple new lesions on her cervix and in the surrounding area. Now, her doctors were saying she was “incurable.”

Luckily, by now Sandra had heard about the liquid formula, Protocel, from a nurse who had suggested she look into it. So she bought Outsmart Your Cancer to read all about it. Since Sandra had been pronounced incurable, she declined all further conventional treatment and started on Protocel Formula 50. That was April 9th of 2015.

Sandra initially took 1/4 teaspoon of the Protocel every 6 hours in water as stated on the bottle. But she soon found out that this amount was just the basic recommended dose. So she gradually increased her dose over a few months until she was taking 1/2 teaspoonful every 6 hours. She then stayed at that level. Sandra also immediately went off all sugar, which she knew to be a VERY important thing to do, and she ate only healthy organic foods. She was determined to recover, so she even threw out all the negative stuff in her life and changed her mindset to focus only on the positive.

After three months, Sandra’s scans looked worse. But she knew that tumors can spread out in size a little as they break down on Protocel (sort of like an ice cube melting), so she stuck with what she was doing. She also heard that Paw Paw can be a helpful adjunct, and started taking that as well in capsule form, 3 times a day with food. Within a month, Sandra was feeling better. Soon, she was exercising again and her well-being seemed to improve every week after that.

At the six-month point, another scan was taken and she was still not clear of cancer. But Sandra was back at work part-time and feeling so well that her doctor said to her, “The report that I’m looking at and the woman I’m looking at are two different things. So keep doing what you’re doing!” Sandra then started rubbing frankincense oil mixed with coconut oil on the bottoms of her feet every day. Frankincense oil (or boswelia) should NOT be taken under the tongue or internally via capsules when using Protocel, but its anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory effects can still be gained by rubbing it on the skin topically.

In December of 2015, nearly nine months into her non-toxic protocol, Sandra’s scans were now showing her cancer to be stabilized, and at this point she decided to stop taking the Paw Paw. She also heard about the cancer fighting abililty of CBD oil and THC oil and found out that these are compatible with Protocel. She was told to use the two oils separately in a 1:1 ratio, taking the CBD oil first, then 2 hours later taking the THC oil. She did this just once a day in the evening, which also helped her sleep well. For more information about how to use cannabis products for cancer and other conditions, Sandra highly recommends the book, “Cannabis Revealed,” by Bonni Goldstein, M.D.

Sandra describes her situation this way :

I was confident. The thing with me going on Protocel was that there was no way on God’s green earth that I was going back to chemo or radiation. So, I had already made up my mind and had everything in line. All the positive . . . the healthy eating and drinking the clean stuff . . . all that was in place. And the mindset that this was going to make me better!

After the nine month point Sandra’s scans did start looking better. Finally, in April of 2017, just two years after she’d been pronounced “incurable” at MD Anderson, Sandra had her first completely clear scan using only non-toxic methods! The oncologist she was seeing in her local community was so thrilled that he came in with a big smile on his face and gave her a hug. He was simply beaming and said, “Keep doing what you’re doing and let me know if you need any more scans!” He also said, “I have a patient who has asked me about alternatives. If she wants to follow up with more information, can I give her your name and number?” Sandra said absolutely and was amazed to have an oncologist ask her this.

Regarding lysing, Sandra never did see any particular egg-white-like material coming out of her body as others have sometimes experienced while using Protocel. But she did have some very pronounced bubbles in her urine. Big bubbles, Sandra said, that would just sit there and not pop for 45 seconds or so.

One HUGE side benefit of Sandra’s use of Protocel is that the severe scar tissue that had developed in her colon and vaginal tissues completely cleared up! All those tissues that were damaged by the radiation miraculously returned to normal elasticity again. Sandra attributed this to the Protocel because it is not uncommon for people to see recently laid down scar tissue go away when they are taking this formula. It has been theorized that this is because scar tissue is made up of anaerobic cells and Protocel can cause those cells to lyse and go away just as it does with cancer cells.

As of this writing, Sandra has been working full-time for a year. Besides picking a powerful treatment approach, her recommendation for others going through something similar is to be proactive, eat a good diet, let stressful things go, and find an oncologist you can work with. She is also planning to stay on Protocel for another two years or so, just to be on the safe side.

Sandra is extremely grateful and says, My healing and all the alternatives were directed by God putting people in my life that helped me in my healing journey. It was He who pulled me out of death’s grip!

The first case was a man with pancreatic cancer who was taking Protocel as well as some rounds of chemo. Happily, his cancer was regressing. Though it had not yet completely gone away , this man was feeling so good that he decided to take a kick-boxing class for exercise. He enjoyed the class for a while until he got kicked really hard in the abdomen. Unfortunately, he was kicked right where his cancer was located. Suddenly, this man’s cancer took off and grew so fast he was no longer able to control the growth. He ended up dying as a result.

The second case was a woman with advanced, metastasized ovarian cancer. Her ovaries had been removed through surgery and she’s been getting chemotherapy for 3 metastasized masses in her liver and and other cancerous lesions throughout her abdomen. But the chemo was not considered a curative approach, so she decided to stop it and try Protocel. The Protocel appeared to be working really well. After not too many months, two of the three tumors in her liver had disappeared and the lesions in her abdominal cavity appeared to be reducing as well. At this point, she decided to have the chemotherapy port that had been implanted next to her belly button removed so that she could shower and do other things more easily. Unfortunately, after the port was surgically removed, the area became infected and would not heal. The infected, damaged tissue was right above some of the cancer in her abdominal cavity. Suddenly, this woman’s cancer took off, too. She never got control of it again.

A third case was an elderly woman about ninety years old who was starting to look into alternative medicine for her Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The lymphoma was clustered mainly at her jawline on one side of her face. She told me that just before the cancerous lumps appeared, she had taken a bad fall and hit her face on something very hard. Her impact was in the very same place the cancer appeared later.

The fourth case was another woman looking into alternative cancer treatments. She had just been diagnosed with breast cancer and mentioned to me that she’d been in a car accident where she had been lunged forward and badly bruised on one side of her chest by the seat belt holding her back. Without me even asking her, she said that the breast cancer then developed in the same spot she had been severely bruised.

This connection between impact (or damaged tissues) and cancer growth may be something that all doctors know about, but I have never heard anyone talk about it. It just seems like cancer is somewhat of an opportunistic disease that likes to grow in damaged tissue. For this reason, I would stay away from any activities that risked impact if I were working on getting my cancer to go away. This might even include avoiding something as seemingly benign as touch football on the lawn with the kids. I do not want to be an alarmist, and everyone can decide for themselves, but this might just be one of those times where being forewarned could make a BIG difference in a person’s recovery!

Everyone dealing with cancer should know about Paw Paw . . . ESPECIALLY those who have already gone through or are getting chemotherapy. Why? Because this amazing plant extract is not only an effective cancer-killing substance, it also may be the BEST thing out there for disabling the mechanism that makes some cancer cells or tumors multidrug-resistant (MDR)! And it works especially well when combined with Protocel.

Multidrug-Resistant Cancer Cells

So, why do some cancers become resistant? Probably the most common cause is the administration of chemo. It can be very discouraging for a cancer patient to do everything their doctor says, then hear their oncologist pronounce that their cancer has now turned into a drug resistant form and is no longer responding to the chemotherapy drugs it initially responded to. This person is now less able to experience the cancer-killing effects of the chemo and is also now in a situation where they may have more difficulty benefiting from the cancer-killing effects of alternative treatments as well.

How does this happen? According to Dr. Jerry McLaughlin, a professor and researcher at Purdue University, one of the most common forms of drug resistance occurs when individual cancer cells develop a biochemical “pump” that pumps out anti-cancer agents like chemo before they have a chance to kill the cancer cell. McLaughlin says that only about 2% of cancer cells will possess this pump, so not all cells have it and those that do are a miniscule fraction of all the cancer cells in any given person. However, those 2% will be the cells that tend to survive chemotherapy treatments. (Because they are able to pump the chemo drug back out of the cell.) Then, when a person is given a break between chemo treatments, a high percentage of the cancer that grows back during that break will be made up of resistant cells containing this pump. In this way, toxic drug treatments with their required breaks so as not to kill the patient, very effectively select out for the most resistant cancer cells of all.

Luckily, we have Paw Paw to the rescue. Paw Paw is able to disable that pump!

Understanding Paw Paw for MDR Cells

It is always surprising when we hear about plants with powerful anti-cancer properties that have been growing right under our noses. In this case, it is the Paw Paw tree, which can be found happily growing naturally in the eastern and southern United States. This tree produces a very tasty fruit that should not be confused with papaya, which is completely different (though having a similar appearance on the outside.) It was discovered that all parts of the Paw Paw tree contain natural anti-cancer compounds called “acetogenins.” That started a decades-long study of Paw Paw for treating cancer, including 7 years of focused study by Big Pharma. Without a doubt, acetogenins from this tree were shown to kill cancer better than some chemo drugs, but the pharmaceutical company involved (which I believe was Pfizer) eventually abandoned its study of Paw Paw because the acetogenins only worked against cancer in their natural forms and could not therefore be patented.

Fortunately, the medicinal properties of the Paw Paw Tree were also studied by Dr. McLaughlin. He devoted over 20 years to the study of Paw Paw and what he discovered about this remarkable tree comprises most of what the world knows today about its medicinal properties. Details about what Dr. McLaughlin discovered can be found at www.PawPawResearch.com, along with a 56-minute video of him lecturing called, “From Discovery to Clinical Trials.” Shorter videos are included in the Q&A section.

Dr. McLaughlin found that acetogenins, referred to as “annonaceous acetogenins,” can actually be found throughout the Paw Paw tree, including the twigs, leaves, and fruit. But he discovered that the most powerful acetogenins were most plentiful in the twigs. He also found that acetogenin content in the twigs peaked during the month of May, and that the best variation of this tree to cultivate them from is the “Asimina triloba” species.

Following Dr. McLaughlin’s work, the supplement company, Nature’s Sunshine, developed a product containing Paw Paw acetogenins that is standardized to cultivation in May from the twigs of the Asimina triloba tree. This supplement comes in capsules and is called “Paw Paw Cell-Reg.” The way it works is by drastically reducing the ATP production in the mitochondria of cancer cells. This robs the cancer cells of the energy they need to survive, which is the same sort of thing that Protocel does, but in a different way. McLaughlin also discovered that the same acetogenins that rob cancer cells of their energy ALSO inhibit or reduce the growth of blood vessels to tumors. This is called anti-angiogenesis and serves to slow the growth of cancer. And, of course, he was able to explain how Paw Paw acetogenins can obliterate the drug resistance of some cancers. Apparently acetogenins interfere with a cancer cell’s ability to power that pump!

Other conditions that Paw Paw can be used beneficially for are viral infections, MS, cold sores, acne, eczema and psoriasis. Some claims have even been made that it helps with Parkinson’s.

Normal dosing of the Nature’s Sunshine product for cancer is 2 capsules three times a day with food, and a person can slowly build up to that if they wish. Some people like to use an immune-boosting supplement along with Paw Paw, such as any good brand of Beta Glucans. Beta Glucans, on the other hand, are usually taken on an empty stomach, so they would be taken in-between the doses of Paw Paw.

Graviola (Annona Muricata) is a tree that is very closely related to the Paw Paw tree and also contains acetogenins. And there are sources of Graviola extract in liquids or capsules that have also been used successfully against cancer, including for pets. However, Dr. McLaughlin and other experts have claimed that the acetogenins in Graviola are not as powerful as those found in Paw Paw, especially in the standardized extract by Nature’s Sunshine.

Paw Paw Cell-Reg by Nature’s Sunshine can be purchased in the U.S. from www.healthy-sunshine.com or outside the U.S. from www.healthysunshineworldwide.com.

Paw Paw Works Well With Protocel and Other Alternative Treatments

According to Dr. McLaughlin, Paw Paw can help maintain the effectiveness of chemotherapy and can be used safely and effectively with radiation as well. He also claims that it should be fine with any alternative treatment. I can testify to the fact that many cancer patients have used the Protocel formula and Paw Paw Cell-Reg together for over a decade. These two non-toxic cancer treatments are each powerful substances against cancer and when used together can really form a one-two punch.

Paw Paw is certainly one of Nature’s great gifts and, in my opinion, is something that every cancer patient would do well to consider as part of their protocol!

Did you know that sexual orgasm can skew a man’s PSA test results? For men concerned about prostate cancer, abstaining from sex for two days before testing is an important precaution in order to get an accurate reading.

You don’t have to search for long on the Internet to find numerous medical sources recommending that men abstain from any type of sex for 1-2 days before taking a PSA test. (48 hours being common.) Otherwise, your test results may be skewed and indicate you have a higher PSA count than you normally do. Yet, even though this caution is listed in conventional medical resources, I have yet to come across a single man whose doctor told him this! Once again, we must visit the alternative cancer treatment world to find out this type of information.

Moreover, there are a number of other activities besides sex that should be avoided for 1 to 2 days for test results to be accurate. For instance, many medical sources recommend that, besides sex, men should also avoid any activity that jostles or puts extra pressure on the prostate gland up to 48 hours before PSA testing. This includes activities such as bike riding, motorcycling, horse riding, or riding an ATV or tractor. These types of activities seem to cause higher PSA counts due to the extra pressure put on the gland. But men rarely hear about any of these precautions, either!

It may seem like a lot to ask, but you really don’t want to have an artificially elevated PSA score. That can lead to all kinds of trouble, including, in some cases, a painful needle biopsy procedure to rule out cancer.

Understanding Your PSA Count

Prostate cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed type of cancer in men, with lung cancer being the first. So, it’s no wonder that many men routinely get their PSA level checked in their annual medical exam or if there appears to be a problem.

The PSA blood test looks for something called “Prostate Specific Antigen,” which is a type of protein primarily produced in the prostate gland. (Specifically, it can be produced by each prostate cell.) Though this test can be a valuable tool in the diagnostic process, it is not nearly as accurate at measuring cancer as many doctors lead patients to believe. For example, about two-thirds of all men who have what is considered an elevated PSA do NOT have prostate cancer. And, on the other side of the coin, about 20% of all men who are KNOWN to have prostate cancer have a normal PSA count!

The problem is that even though the PSA test has its failings, it is often treated as a perfect indicator of cancer. Be very careful to NOT fall prey to this widespread misunderstanding. The truth is that PSA levels are only an indirect measure of something happening in the prostate gland. Not a direct measure of cancer. And there is no “normal” or “abnormal” PSA level that applies to every man. This is because there are many factors that can affect the PSA count, cancer being just one of them.

Keep in mind that a man’s PSA level goes up in response to enlargement of the prostate gland or because of pressure in or on the prostate gland. Since many men experience a gradual enlargement of their prostate as they get older (a condition called “Benign Prostate Hypertrophy” or BPH), every man’s age must always be considered when evaluating their PSA score. Another benign, non-cancer factor that can chronically elevate the PSA is when calcium deposits are in the prostate gland. This is not uncommon and it is not dangerous. It has a similar counterpart in women, which is benign calcium deposits in the breasts. Calcium deposits in the prostate can cause inflammation, which can cause pressure in the gland, and this results in a detectable rise in PSA.

PSA Myths and Misconceptions

As always, I am a big proponent of understanding what we’re working with, and my research indicates that there are some major misunderstandings about the PSA in conventional medicine. In fact, according to Dr. John R. Lee, one of the world’s foremost experts on hormone-related cancers for both men and women, there are some very important yet common misunderstandings about the PSA, prostate cancer, and the effect of testosterone on cancer. These are not misunderstandings just among the general public, either, but have propagated through mainstream medicine after being erroneously set in place decades ago.

According to Dr. Lee, oncologists have been duped with the wrong information and men have been suffering from this for many ears. Fallacies such as the idea that testosterone feeds cancer. In Chapter 20 of my book, I go into detail explaining Dr. Lee’s ideas on how testosterone is actually anti-cancer, and the PSA compound itself is also anti-cancer because it has anti-angiogenic properties. This means that it stops new blood vessels from being formed to feed a tumor that is growing fast. According to Dr. Lee, the last things you should do when you have prostate cancer is block your testosterone production or try to get your PSA count to go down. Also according to Dr. Lee, the PSA count can never be trusted as an accurate indicator of cancer when a man is taking a testosterone-blocking drug.

But even though a man’s PSA count is not a perfect indicator of cancer, and there are myths and misunderstandings about the PSA, testosterone, and hormone-blocking drugs, it can still be a worthwhile tool when used along with other tests. So if you’re going to get a PSA test, at least do yourself a favor and avoid sex and the other activities mentioned for 48 hours beforehand to avoid any unwanted cancer scare or further invasive testing. Or, if you are not able to abstain from the aforementioned activities and your PSA test shows an overly high score, you can always request that another PSA test be done right away!
